A Creative Watch That Uses Words Instead Of Numbers
Kaidoku is a limited edition colored LCD watch design that displays the time using words instead of numbers.
Designed by 15 year old Tynan Mayhew, a creative fan of Tokyoflash watches, Kaidoku was originally a concept submitted to the Tokyoflash Design Studio Blog.
A Stylish, Ergonomic Watch Design
A slim, light wrist watch, with a comfortable genuine leather strap, Kaidoku has been designed ergonomically to fit small and large wrists perfectly.
A Watch Design With Time, Date, Alarm and EL Backlight
As well as time, date, and alarm functions, Kaidoku has an electroluminescent (EL) backlight function for night time. Press the upper button to illuminate the words. This function only works in dark conditions and is not as bright as LED lighting used in some watches.
Each part of Kaidoku has been individually designed and manufactured, including the case, strap and uniquely programmed display. Like all watches from Tokyoflash Japan it is a limited edition design which means that it is guaranteed to be an original watch that not many other people own.
Custom Designed Packaging
This watch comes in an exclusive gift box. It features graphics of iconic watches from Tokyoflash Japan past and present on a red background.
How To Read The Time
Kaidoku means to decode in Japanese but this watch needs no translation once you understand how it works. Look at the words that are flashing and read them in order to tell the time. The date can be read in exactly the same way by pressing the lower button.
From Concept To Reality
The idea for Kaidoku was submitted to Tokyoflash Japan by 14 year old Tynan Mayhew from Canada. Find out more about the original concept on the Tokyoflash Japan Design Studio Blog. Blog reader & watch designer Tynan says:
“When I first discovered Tokyoflash, I was fascinated with the watch designs. I followed the Tokyoflash design blog and checked it frequently. I wanted to create a watch design that told time in a completely different way, using words instead of numbers. I made a few sketches and uploaded the design. After a while, I forgot about it until I was contacted regarding my idea. When I finally got to see the real thing, I was floored! It looked very sleek and smooth, and like a lot of effort had been put into designing it.”
